1/4 Teaspoon Salt
10 Ounces Of Flanked Steak
1/6 Teaspoon Baking Soda

3 Tablespoons Canola Oil
1/2 Sesame Oil
5 Cups Of Cooked Rice
1 Chopped Scallion
1 Tablespoon Shaoxing Wine
1 Tablespoon Hot Water
1/4 Teaspoon Sugar
1 Medium-Sized Onion
3/4 Cup Of Peas
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
Begin by mixing the beef, baking soda, sugar, cornstarch, dark soy sauce, oil, and water in a dish. Turn it until it’s well combined. Water is useful for beef margination, may not be good for it, but it’s the best option for the fried steak and rice.
Get another dish for combining sesame oil, soy sauce, hot water, white pepper, sugar, and MSG. Make it mix properly because it’s what will be added to your rice. Therefore, prepare it earlier before you begin the cooking process.
Fluff the cooked rice using a fork or your hands. In case it sticks, rinse the hand in cold water to prevent that. If the rice is in clumps, make efforts to spread by breaking it down.
Place the wok on medium heat. Then, fill with one teaspoon of oil for cooking the eggs. Scoop them when they seem to have cooked. Take the eggs back to the bowl they’re in and let it wait for its chance.
Continue heating the wok to smoking. Thereafter, spread the wok with a teaspoon of oil. Add the beef and let it sear for around 20 to 30seconds. Then, stir it up to 75% ready before taking it to a marinade dish and put it in waiting.
Still, let the wok prepare the onions by sprinkling it with a teaspoon of oil. Next, add the onions and fry until golden brown. After that, pour the rice on it and use a spatula to crush it in case clumps are present. Keep frying if the rice was preserved in the fridge to warm it up. For easier work on clumps, add some water to break it up effortlessly.
After getting the rice ready, pour the sauce mix on it. Stir gently in a scooping manner to evenly cover the rice particles. It should be warm enough by now, so add more juices you’d prepared earlier and continue stirring softly.
To that rice mixture, add the eggs, peas, and scallions as you keep stir-frying for some time. Move your rice at the wok’s centre for allowing its perimeter to heat up properly before adding Shaoxing wine around the space left. You can taste your food to see what may be added or needed to be removed. For instance, check for the addition of salt, pepper, or soy sauce.

ARE THERE ANY INGREDIENT SUBSTITUTES IN CASE YOU DON’T FIND ALL?
While it’s recommended that you try to be closer to the requirements, you may lack some of the listed ingredients. The substitution given below is mainly meant for those with restricted dietary precautions may be due to underlying conditions one may have. Please use it to find what may work for your digestion without struggles. Some of the substitutes include;
Rice
A majority of people prefer Jasmine rice. However, any rice variety can be used- short-grain rice, minute, long-grain, or brown. The best option for use is leftover rice because it has almost no moisture in it.
Steak
Sirloin may substitute beef fried rice because it lacks numerous flavors which are already in the ingredients. More other substitutes can be strip steak, flank steak, skirt steak, and rib-eye.
Eggs
The only way to avoid the eggs is by omitting it. Get it off the recipe completely if you’re allergic to eggs.
Vegetables
Mixed vegetables are in fried rice that contains corn, carrots, and peas, among others. Those wishing to avoid any of them or add can easily use fresh vegetables. It’d be best if you use other vegetable option than canned, because of too much moisture contents.
Sesame oil
While sesame oil isn’t among the most staple ingredients known, it’s loved by most individuals for its outstanding flavour and taste. If you really must get another choice for oil, vegetable or canola will do.
Butter
For individuals that don’t get along with dairy products, margarine will serve better.

The Bottom Line:
Using MSG has brought controversy when preparing steak fried rice. Is it a must-add ingredient? Some say it’s ok whereas others describe it as a food scourge. Well, it’s optional, but if your body doesn’t react to it, try it. Be sure it gives your steak fried rice the perfect taste it deserves, of course with the addition of the other ingredients. The above-described recipe contains various health benefits from the nutrients involved in its preparation. For instance, it has carbohydrates, potassium, vitamin C, iron, proteins, fiber, and vitamin A among others.
The guide on preparation also gives substitutes for various ingredients that you may either not access or don’t use for personal reasons. An example is using margarine in place of butter, vegetable oil and canola instead of sesame oil, and not using eggs at all if they affect you. Furthermore, you may use fresh vegetables to substitute other veggie products in fried rice. Remember to avoid using canned vegetables as they comprise a lot of moisture. Again, leftover rice is a better choice because it may lack moisture.
